How rankings work

MONEY SETS THE RANKING.

The Grand Pages ranks Pages by one thing only: money.

The Page with the highest total ranks #1.

Paying toward a Page increases its total and can move it higher in the ranking.

No reviews. No ratings. No judges. No editorial selection. No popularity algorithm.

Every payment counts. Nothing else does.

Pages on The Grand Pages are ranked exclusively according to the amount attributed to them through the platform. The Page with the highest total ranks #1. No reviews, ratings, popularity score, editorial judgement or algorithm determines the position.

HOW A PAGE’S TOTAL IS CALCULATED

Every Page on The Grand Pages has a ranking total.

A Page’s ranking total is the sum of all amounts attributed to that Page through The Grand Pages.

Three kinds of payment count toward a Page’s ranking total:

  • Page creation: the amount paid to create the Page.
  • Self-support: additional amounts the Page’s own manager pays toward it.
  • Support from other people: amounts anyone else pays toward the Page.

For example:

  • Page A · 2 500 €
  • Page B · 1 800 €
  • Page C · 950 €

Page A ranks #1 because Page A has the highest total.

If Page B receives another 1 000 €, Page B’s total becomes 2 800 € and Page B moves to #1.

A ranking on The Grand Pages can change at any time. Someone can pay more tomorrow, or three seconds from now.

WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE TO A PAGE?

Anyone can contribute money toward a Page on The Grand Pages.

A Page can support itself, and other people can support it too.

Money paid by the Page’s manager and money paid by other supporters both count toward the same ranking total.

A Page supported entirely by its owner can therefore compete with a Page supported by hundreds of different people.

The source of the money does not determine the position. The total does.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

Payments are made to The Grand Pages, not directly to the person, business or organisation represented by the Page.

A contribution is not a donation to the Page, an investment in it, or a measure of its revenue, value or wealth.

A contribution is a payment through The Grand Pages that counts toward that Page’s ranking total.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A TIE?

Two Pages on The Grand Pages can have the same ranking total.

When two Pages have the same total, the Page that reached that total first stays ahead until one of the totals changes.

Example:

  • #1 Page A · 1 000 €
  • #2 Page B · 1 000 €

If Page A reached 1 000 € first, Page A remains above Page B while the totals remain equal.

CATEGORY RANKINGS

Pages can rank within a category such as:

  • Hotel
  • Restaurant
  • Startup
  • Photographer
  • Artist
  • Fashion Brand

A Page listed as a Hotel competes against other Hotels.

Every eligible Page also participates in the All Categories ranking, so a Page can be ranked both within its category and across The Grand Pages as a whole.

GEOGRAPHIC RANKINGS

When a Page has a location, that Page can also appear in geographic rankings.

Geographic rankings are organised from the widest area to the most specific: worldwide, then country, then region, state, province or equivalent area, then city.

For example, a hotel located in Paris can appear in:

  • Hotels Worldwide
  • Hotels in France
  • Hotels in Île-de-France
  • Hotels in Paris

In each geographic ranking, a Page’s position depends on how that Page’s total compares with the other eligible Pages in that same geographic ranking.

WHAT DOES #1 MEAN?

Being #1 on The Grand Pages means one specific thing:

That Page currently has the highest ranking total in that ranking.

Being #1 does not mean The Grand Pages considers that Page objectively better than every other Page.

The Grand Pages does not independently assess quality, popularity, reputation or customer satisfaction to determine ranking positions.

The methodology is deliberately simple and transparent:

the highest total ranks first.

HOW RANKINGS CHANGE OVER TIME

A ranking on The Grand Pages can change at any time.

A Page may be #1 now and #2 a few seconds later if another Page overtakes its total.

There is no guaranteed ranking position and no guaranteed amount of time at any position.

Where displayed, ranking data and timestamps reflect the information available on The Grand Pages at that moment.

WHAT "LAST UPDATED" MEANS

On a ranking page, "Last updated" shows when the ranking data for that ranking last changed on The Grand Pages.

A ranking can be updated when, for example, a Page enters the ranking, a ranking total changes, or the ranking order or membership changes.

"Last updated" does not mean that the ranking was reviewed, approved or verified by a person.

CERTIFICATES

Any Page that holds a ranking position on The Grand Pages can generate a certificate for that position.

A certificate records one specific ranking position — for example “#3 of 12 Hotels in France of the month” — together with the amount attributed and the number of supporters at the moment it was generated.

A certificate can be generated for any ranking a Page appears in: worldwide, or within its country, region or city, and for the day, the week, the month or all time.

The figures on a certificate are frozen at the moment it is generated. The ranking itself keeps changing, so a certificate records a position at a point in time, not a permanent status.

A certificate is a record of a ranking position based on amounts attributed to the Page. It is not an award for quality, an endorsement, or an independent evaluation of the Page.

WHAT COUNTS?

The ranking signal on The Grand Pages is money attributed to the Page through The Grand Pages.

It is not: reviews, followers, likes, traffic, awards, editorial opinion, star ratings or social popularity.

No favoritism. No algorithm. Payments set the position.

THE SIMPLE VERSION

  • 1. Create or find a Page.
  • 2. Put money toward it.
  • 3. Its ranking total increases.
  • 4. If its total becomes the highest, it becomes #1.

Someone else can overtake a Page at any time, and when they do, the ranking changes.

It’s brutally simple. And completely transparent.
